Abacus - Australian Mutuals organises a number of events throughout the year to highlight the role credit unions, mutual building societies and friendly societies play in the retail financial services sector and the community.

Annual Industry Convention

The industry's keynote annual event combines education, focusing on hot topics facing the industry, with exploration of new business opportunities for our members.

The 2011 Abacus/AM Institute Convention was held in Cairns from 22-26 October 2011.  This was the first mutual sector conference jointly managed by the AM Institute and Abacus.  Additional information can be found at www.abacusconvention.com.au.

Dates for the 2012 & 2013 Conventions were announced during the Convention in Cairns. 

  • 2012 Convention will be held at the Gold Coast Convention & Exhibition Centre, 22-26 September 2012.
  • 2013 Convention will be held at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre, 26-30 October 2013.

Industry Events

Parliamentary and community events are also organised by Abacus, working with our members to promote the interests and awareness of the mutual financial services and friendly society sectors. These range from the promotion of International Credit Union Day (third Thursday in October each year) to regular industry events around the country.
